I called my doctor who just happens to be in the same practice as Braeden's and explained the problem. Fortunately, I was able to use the same drops we'd been giving to Braeden, saving us from having to purchase another $27 prescription!
As long as Mat stays healthy, we should be done with all of this by Thursday. Keep your fingers crossed!

We took his temp again and it was 102.7; into the bath he went. Then more eye drops and infant tylenol and it was time to nurse and go to bed. I'll stay home with him tomorrow to make sure he's over the infection and fever.
Think good thoughts for Braeden!

We first noticed his eyes were a little crusty when he woke up Thursday morning. He's been a little congested for a week now, so we thought it might have to do with that. He hasn't been acting any differently--sleeping well, eating tons, and playing like a madman--so we weren't too concerned. But Friday it was a little worse, and we found out a couple of kids at day care had eye infections including Hudson.
Saturday morning it had gotten worse, so we took him to the pediatrician's office. And his doctor said it was pink eye! She gave us an antibiotic eye drop to use for a week and said it should be better in a couple of days. Now Mat and I are washing our hands every half hour and making every effort not to touch our eyes.
The doctor told us that pink eye often goes hand in hand with ear infections, but she said his ears looked good. So, it could be worse!

The top two (Busy busy Braeden and Braeden at play) are the most recent, but if you haven't seen the other two, have fun!
We spent a quiet day at home today running out for a couple of errands, but otherwise we just played at home. And tomorrow it's back to day care for Braeden and work for Mat and me.

This morning we celebrated another of Braeden's firsts...his first haircut!
Trust me when I tell you his hair had gotten way too long. He's got a funny cowlick which he gets from his dad that made the hair on the top of his head stand straight up. And his hair in the back was long enough to touch his shirt collar. It was time!
We took him this morning to Mat's barber, a young guy with twin boys of his own. There was no line, so we got right down to business. The barber used a 3/4 inch guard on the razor and went to work with his comb. Five minutes later and NO screaming, we were done. For most of the haircut, Braeden sat just like you see him-quietly and calmly on Mat's lap. At the very end, he squirmed just a little, but he never made a peep. He was the model client!
Now his hair is very, very short but it looks fantastic! Very grown-up. And we know it will make bath time easier now that we won't have to spend so much time trying to dry his hair. We'll take some pictures to show off his new 'do later today and post them so everyone can see our handsome little man.

In other good news, Braeden has jumped into the 50th percentile for both height and weight which pleased his doctor immensely. He weighed in at 22 pounds 3 ounces this morning (exactly three more pounds than at his nine-month appointment). And he was 29 1/4 inches long, or should I say tall since he can stand now? Either way, he's growing and developing very well! His head is 19 1/4 inches around, still big for his age.
Aside from the shots, it was a pretty uneventful visit. The doctor was happy and so are we.

It's Braeden's big day! The big 01!
So far, this lucky little kid has had two birthday parties (with each set of grandparents) and this afternoon he'll celebrate at day care. I made chocolate cupcakes with white frosting last night and will go in at 2:30 today to party with him and the other kids. I'll try to snap a picture with my camera phone to post here. I bet the kids will be really cute (and really messy) eating cupcakes!
This picture is from his birthday celebration at Joe's last Saturday. Since he HATES hats, this one stayed on just long enough for one picture. He was also afraid of the helium balloon Mark brought. He wouldn't go near it, but we brought it back to the house and it's grown on him. I think he realized it's just another thing he can hit.
