All Smiles

In this photo, Braeden flashes his trademark grin to the camera. He's such a happy kid, smiling is his usual expression. He does love his shades!

Glasses on

I think of this as Braeden's model shot. With his sunglasses on and such a serious face, he looks like he should be on a billboard!

Turns out I taught Braeden something a little silly. Imagine that!

Just inside the door at his day care, there's a big fish tank with a boat at the bottom. Braeden always stops to see the boat and the fish which comes out sounding a little like oaf when Braeden says it. Well, one day there was a new fish in the tank. A pufferfish. I pointed it out to Braeden by saying "Look at the new weird fish!" And that's all it took. Now when he runs down the hall it's to look at the weird fish in the tank. It's the one he looks for and when he sees it, he points and says weird. And he says it in the most adorable way! One day, another little girl corrected him to say it was a pufferfish, but to Braeden it's just the weird one!

I took this photo with my phone on our trip home from NY at Christmas. Braeden got Braeden the dog from his me-ma and p-pa for Christmas, and you can clearly see he loves it. In this picture he's kissing dog (that's what Braeden calls it). Actually, it's a little weird because everything has been puppy since the very beginning. And when we see dogs, they're still puppies. But this one is dog. And Braeden has to sleep with dog every night. Dog, pig, and Elmo join Braeden in his crib each night.

Braeden turns two!

Since I didn't post about his birthday at the time, I thought I'd do a quick blurb on his b-day.

We celebrated several times with family, friends, and at the day care. Braeden got a lot of great presents and really enjoyed opening bags and ripping wrapping paper! I took cupcakes to day care, which I'm pretty sure were a hit since he came home covered in cupcake. I should probably apologize to the parents of all the other kids who also went home covered in cupcake, but it was a special occasion. :)

Something amazing...Braeden still isn't over Christmas. Sometimes he'll grab my hand and lead me into the living room saying Christmas over and over. When he realizes the tree is gone, he pauses, then usually leads me over to his toys. Since he got so many of them for Christmas, I think he connects the toys to the holiday and figures it's the next best thing. But for a minute or two I feel really bad that we took the tree down!

Playing Catch-up

It's been so long since I last posted that blogger became one of google's projects! I had to create a google account, and it looks like you will too if you want to post to the blog. It was really easy to set up, so don't let the new format stop you.

Since I last posted, weve celebrated Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's. And we're just days away from Braeden's second birthday. We had a nice Thanksgiving at the house. Turkey, mashed potatoes, squash, gravy...all the usual fixings minus the dressing. While it's the centerpiece of my dad's Thanksgiving, it's just not our thing. Pete, Carol, and Joe joined us for the day.

We celebrated Christmas twice this year with a very Gendle Christmas on December 17 and a Potter Christmas on the 25th. Pete, Carol, Mark, Jenn, and Joe came to the house on the 17th. We had a lovely day opening presents, eating sausages, and playing outside with Braeden and his new bike from Joe. The weather was perfect! Braeden loved sitting on his bike while we pushed him around, but he didn't really understand how to push his feet on the pedals. There's time!

We drove to NY on Thursday, December 21 for a week-long visit with my parents in Rhinebeck.
